This little Sprout grabs the spotlight by bringing his own. He's a flashlight, lantern style, with the bulb hidden beneath the vegetables at his feet and the handle attached to his back. His arms are bent with his hands on his hips, and his eyes are looking upward (at the Giant?).

The Jolly Green Giant has always been the strong, silent type, guarding the Pillsbury Company's garden. Originally a print advertisement, the Giant had trouble adapting to the 3-D world of television which demanded a little more personality than smiling at vegetables. But he didn't want to lose his job, because he was outstanding in his field, so he adopted the little Sprout as his sidekick in the late 60's. The Sprout could do what the Giant couldn't: talk, and get into mischief. Together, the green team has become almost as well-known as Batman and Robin.
