Spuds MacKenzie first appeared in 1983 as "the original party animal." He was usually shown partying at poolside, surrounded by beautiful gals called "Spudettes." He only drank Bud Light, and sales of the product soared due to his popularity. He was later "drafted" to warn teenagers and other young people about the dangers of drinking and driving.
